Saola Energy's turbine installation at Mid-Missouri Energy's ethanol plant minimized the facility’s carbon footprint and maximized profitability, leading to an increase in energy efficiency and cost savings.
When Mid-Missouri Energy faced challenges completing their steam turbine project, Saola Energy stepped in to lead the engineering and project management efforts with a goal to increase efficiency across the board. Upon the completion of the installation, the steam turbine now powers one-third of the ethanol plant’s operations.
Through rapid process engineering and 3D modeling, alongside our expert project management, Saola Energy drove the project to completion ahead of schedule and under budget. Under Saola’s guidance, the steam turbine introduced significant energy and cost savings, enhancing the plant’s operational sustainability for the long-term.
Today, steam turbines have become an essential solution to boost ethanol plant efficiency. At Saola Energy, we utilize this technology to transform high-pressure steam, typically 120-160 psig, generated during ethanol production into valuable electrical power.
By using steam turbines, we convert steam let-down for evaporation – typically a significant energy loss – into substantial value for the plant’s operations. This method supplies up to one-third of a plant’s power needs, significantly cutting operational costs and reducing carbon emissions. Moreover, it offsets about 30% of the plant’s overall energy demand and increases the value of the fuel under incentive programs like the IRA, underscoring our commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable energy solutions to owner-operators.
